HT Electrical Panels Details

Coronet offers custom-built medium voltage panels. We design and deliver Medium Voltage (HT) Panels up to 33kV. We have a strategic and business alliance with the TOP Brand 'Schneider Electric".

We are offering a wide range and high-grade indoor/outdoor VCB HT Panels. These are used in power distribution transformers to provide backup protection. The panels have compartments for voltage bus bars or metering and cables. Developed using high-grade material and employing the latest technology, our offered panels cater to the diverse requirements of industrial applications, i.e. HT Panels, Package substations, APFC panels, HT Drive Panels, etc.

An HT (High Tension) Electrical Panel is a critical component used in electrical distribution systems to manage and control the flow of high-voltage electrical power. These panels are designed for handling voltages higher than 1000V, typically used in industries, power plants, substations, and large commercial buildings where high-voltage systems are required. The primary function of HT Electrical Panels is to step down high voltage to lower levels (through transformers) and distribute the electrical supply safely and reliably to the connected equipment.

HT Electrical Panels are designed with advanced protection and monitoring systems to ensure the safe operation of high-voltage circuits and prevent electrical faults that could lead to damage or hazards.

Key Components of an HT Electrical Panel:

  • Incoming Circuit Breaker (HT Breaker): A heavy-duty circuit breaker used to disconnect the incoming high-tension electrical supply in the event of faults or overloads. It protects the entire system from electrical faults like short circuits and overloads.
  • Busbars: Conductive bars made of copper or aluminum that distribute electrical power from the incoming source to the various outgoing circuits or feeders.
  • CT (Current Transformers): Measure the high current in the HT system and step down the current to a level suitable for safe monitoring and control by protection relays and meters.
  • PT (Potential Transformers): Used to step down the high voltage for measurement and monitoring purposes. PTs provide the voltage signals needed for metering and protection relays.
  • Protection Relays: Essential for detecting faults such as overcurrent, undercurrent, earth faults, and phase failure. The protection relays send a signal to trip the breaker to disconnect the circuit if a fault is detected.
  • Outgoing Feeder Circuit Breakers (MCCB, ACB): These breakers protect the individual outgoing circuits from overloads, short circuits, and faults, ensuring that power is safely distributed to various equipment and loads.
  • Energy Meters: Measure the electrical consumption of high-voltage power supplied to different equipment or systems. This helps monitor energy usage, optimize efficiency, and calculate billing.
  • Isolators: Used to isolate different parts of the electrical panel for maintenance and ensure safety when servicing equipment.
  • Surge Protection Devices: Protects the panel and connected equipment from electrical surges or spikes, typically caused by lightning strikes or other disturbances.
  • Indicating Lamps & Alarms: Visual and audible indicators that provide information on the system's status, including any fault conditions or abnormalities.
  • Control Switches & Push Buttons: Allow operators to manually control the operation of the system or sections of the panel, such as turning on/off individual feeders or switching the system to maintenance mode.
  • Cooling & Ventilation Systems: HT Electrical Panels generate heat during operation due to high currents, so proper ventilation or cooling mechanisms (such as fans or air conditioning) are incorporated into the design to prevent overheating.

Functions of an HT Electrical Panel:

  • Power Distribution: The HT electrical panel is responsible for receiving high-voltage electrical power and distributing it safely to various parts of the facility or plant.
  • Voltage Step-Down: The panel includes transformers (potential transformers) to reduce the high voltage to a level suitable for use by lower-voltage equipment and machinery.
  • Fault Protection: Protection relays, breakers, and fuses within the panel help protect the electrical circuits from faults such as overloads, short circuits, or under-voltage conditions, preventing equipment damage.
  • Monitoring: Real-time monitoring of key electrical parameters like voltage, current, and power consumption helps operators understand the system's status and detect potential problems before they escalate.
  • Isolation & Maintenance: The isolators and breakers in the HT panel allow for safe isolation of parts of the system for maintenance, ensuring that no electrical current is present when servicing is conducted.
  • Energy Metering: The energy meters track power usage in the system, providing information for energy management and monitoring the performance of the entire electrical distribution system.
  • System Protection & Safety: The HT panel ensures that all connected equipment and personnel are protected from electrical hazards by incorporating safety features such as surge protection, earth fault protection, and automatic shutdown mechanisms.

Applications:

  • Power Generation Plants: HT panels are commonly used in power plants to handle the distribution of high-voltage power generated from turbines, generators, or other sources.
  • Industrial Facilities: Used to supply high-voltage power to heavy machinery, large motors, HVAC systems, and other high-energy-consuming equipment in factories and industrial plants.
  • Substations: HT electrical panels are used in substations to control and manage the distribution of electricity from the high-voltage transmission lines to the lower-voltage distribution network.
  • Commercial Buildings: Large commercial buildings, shopping malls, hospitals, and office complexes use HT panels to distribute high-voltage power to various low-voltage circuits and systems.
  • Mining Operations: Used in mining operations to manage power distribution for heavy machinery, mining equipment, and processing plants.
  • Oil & Gas Industry: HT electrical panels play a crucial role in providing power distribution to offshore rigs, refineries, and other high-energy installations in the oil and gas sector.
  • Renewable Energy Systems: Used in solar power plants and wind farms to manage and distribute the high-voltage power generated before it is stepped down for local distribution.

Benefits of HT Electrical Panels:

  • Safety: Provides critical protection for equipment and personnel by automatically disconnecting power in case of faults, such as overloads, short circuits, and earth faults.
  • Reliable Power Distribution: Ensures that high-voltage power is distributed efficiently and reliably to various equipment or sub-circuits.
  • Efficient Monitoring & Control: Allows for real-time monitoring of power parameters and quick detection of faults, improving the system's overall performance and reducing downtime.
  • Scalability & Flexibility: HT panels can be designed to suit the specific requirements of various applications, and they can be expanded or upgraded as the demand for power increases.
  • Energy Management: Through energy meters and monitoring, HT panels help optimize the use of electrical power and reduce overall energy costs.
  • Compliance with Standards: HT panels are designed to meet international safety and quality standards, ensuring reliable and safe operation in high-voltage environments.

In summary, HT Electrical Panels are essential for safely handling and distributing high-voltage power in industrial, commercial, and power generation applications. They provide critical protection, monitoring, and control functions to ensure the efficient operation of electrical systems while minimizing the risks associated with high-voltage power.
